Rest well—your Himalayan adventure begins tomorrow!
Drive Kathmandu to Manthali (approx 5 hours) and take a thrilling early morning flight to Lukla, one of the world’s most iconic mountain airstrips. Upon arrival, meet your porters and begin trekking along the Dudh Koshi River. Pass through vibrant Sherpa villages, cross suspension bridges, and enjoy you first views of snowy peaks. Overnight in the riverside village of Phakding.
Approx. 3–4 hrs
Today’s trail winds through forests of pine and rhododendron, crossing several suspension bridges including the famous Hillary Bridge—before the steep climb into Namche. Along the way, catch your first glimpse of Mt. Everest. Namche Bazaar, the bustling heart of the Khumbu, welcomes you with mountain charm, bakeries, and shops.
Approx. 5–6 hrs
A crucial day for altitude acclimatisation. After a relaxed breakfast, take a half-day hike to the Everest View Hotel (3,880m) or Khumjung village to help your body adjust. The trail offers sweeping views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. In the afternoon, explore the town’s shops, museums, or rest at a local café.
Depart Namche with a scenic trail that contours around the hillsides, revealing stunning vistas of Himalayan giants. After lunch at Phunki Tenga by the river, begin a steady climb through fir forests to reach Tengboche. Here, you can visit the region’s largest monastery and enjoy panoramic views of Everest, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam.
Approx. 5–6 hrs
Descend through forests to Debuche and cross the Imja Khola river. From here, pass Pangboche, the highest year-round settlement in the region, and continue through alpine terrain to Dingboche. This windswept valley offers expansive views of the Imja and Chukhung valleys and is a good spot for stargazing on clear nights.
Approx. 5–6 hrs
Another rest and acclimatisation day. You can opt for a hike up Nagarjun Hill (5,100m) for brilliant views of Makalu, Island Peak, and Lhotse. Return to Dingboche to rest, hydrate, and prepare for higher elevations ahead.
Follow the high-altitude trail to Chhukung, a small settlement tucked beneath towering peaks. After a short rest, attempt the optional climb to Chhukung Ri. It’s a challenging ascent but offers phenomenal views of Ama Dablam, Island Peak, and the Lhotse Wall.
Approx. 6–7 hrs
Prepare for a big day as you ascend the remote Kongma La Pass, the highest of the three major passes in the Khumbu. The trail is rugged and offers a true sense of wilderness. From the top, enjoy views of the Khumbu Glacier before descending to Lobuche, a quiet outpost nestled below towering peaks.
Approx. 6–7 hrs
Trek along glacial moraine to Gorak Shep, the final lodge settlement. After a break, continue to Everest Base Camp, winding through rocky terrain beside the Khumbu Glacier. At base camp, take in the surreal scenery of prayer flags, ice towers, and climbers preparing for expeditions before returning to Gorak Shep.

Spend the day exploring the magical Gokyo valley. Climb Gokyo Ri for one of the finest panoramic views in the Khumbu, including Everest, Cho Oyu, and the Ngozumpa Glacier. Optionally, hike further to the 4th and 5th Gokyo lakes for a remote wilderness feel.
