Overview

This program introduces participants to the fundamentals of outdoor rock climbing in one of Southeast Asia’s most breathtaking limestone landscapes. Ideal people with some indoor bouldering experience looking to transition to outdoor routes, this course blends technical learning, physical challenge, and the joy of discovery. 

Learning Goals

  • Build trust through belaying, knot-tying, and partner checks
  • Develop basic movement and balance on the wall
  • Learn anchor cleaning
  • Build awareness of environmental responsibility and local climbing culture 

Itinerary

Welcome briefing. Body positioning, footwork, and efficient movement on slab and vertical routes, different types of holds and how to use them. Spotting, mats, and safe falls for bouldering outdoors. Give personalized feedback on climbing techniques and ways of improving.

 

Gear check (explanation of the name of each piece of equipment and it's use, how to check it for safety),  Tying in as the climber, belaying and lowering with Grigri, safely checks and communication.  Climb easy outdoor routes.

Introduction to outdoor climbing ethics and safety checks. 

Learn lead belay with an ATC and Grigri, clipping skills and basic anchor setups, rope management. Body positioning and resting for clipping. Hands-on sessions on easy routes to reinforce systems. Mock leads. 

Review clipping skills and learn how to clean a route. Complete a lead climb (mock leads still possible if comfort level is not there yet) Lead falls, apply learned techniques, and focus on communication and trust between climbers, and adapt to each participant’s needs, encouraging everyone to focus on the skills they most want to strengthen.
