Overview

A progression-based course for intermediate to advanced climbers who want to refine their outdoor skills, explore Cat Ba’s multi-pitch routes, and gain confidence in independent climbing. This program blends guided instruction, technical workshops, and unforgettable climbs above turquoise waters. 

Learning Goals

  • Build anchor systems and manage multi-pitch transitions
  • Practice route reading and efficient communication on the wall
  • Learn self-rescue and problem-solving techniques
  • Experience Deep Water Solo as part of mental and physical training 

Itinerary

Skills and movement evaluation, safety briefing, and review of lead climbing fundamentals. Refresher belay devices [ATC, Grigri, and other common devices]. Build, inspect, and clean anchors efficiently. 

Climb easy routes. 

Develop advanced movement skills and get personalized coaching.

Lead progression on bolted routes, clipping practice, and controlled falls. Managing fear and risk with proper communication and mental focus. 

Participants can do Paddling, hiking, swimming or spend time at the beach.  Food tour.

Advanced anchor systems (natural anchors, and multipitch configurations), Belaying from above, Transitions, belay station management, rope stacking.  Complete a mini multi under the supervision of a guide. 

Knots (Alpine butterfly, Double fisherman’s bend, Clove hitch, Münter hitch) Learn basics hauling and lowering systems, the pick off, how to ascend a rope, manage stuck ropes, and handle common emergencies safely.

The group is split between guide-led climbs on Cat Ba’s famous multi-pitch routes and half day deep water solo adventure.  Use all the skills that you have learnt, and  dive into movement flow, risk management.   

Celebration of progress, debrief, and feedback. 

Certificates, farewell dinner, and closing reflections.

Who can join?

This course is for climbers who are comfortable top roping 6a–6b routes and can lead at least 5c.

Each participant will undergo a short skill assessment at the start of the program to ensure safety and appropriate progression.
